Introduzione

"Having always been fascinated by the world of aviation and technology, the subject of drones is the perfect combination of these two worlds in close connection. Everyday we hear about drones used for many purposes in a variety of fields: from recreational to civilian to military ones.
These aircraft are the result of technological progress, are quickly entering into our lives and despite their numerous advantages, there are significant barriers to their development in the global market: currently, there is no perfect integration into civil air space, there may be problems with human rights violations, there is no specific single regulation, data security and telecommunications are not 100% trustworthy...

The main object of this thesis is to analyse and comprehend RPASs and their fast evolution day by day. The study was conducted by analysing the military and civilian documents about the topic and essential in this regard has been cooperation with the Air Force in particular the help of Gen. Giancotti and Lt. Col Papiri who, through passion and knowledge of the subject, gave me the foundation to address this study.

The following paper presents the use of RPAS in its fundamental aspects: in the first chapter there is an overview of the characteristics of these aircraft and their technology, also taking into account the regulatory framework and the scope of their use; in the second chapter, I will analyse the vulnerabilities associated with them during the operations they are engaged in, focusing on privacy issues and also on third party liability, and thus also looking at the insurance required in case of damage to things or people; the third and last chapter, concerns public opinion that revolves around the aircraft. The RPASs get more and more involved in society, and a new discipline based on continuous innovation is developing around them; they are varied and versatile assets for different fields of use, using for each of these systems different technologies. The prospects of improvement and development are wide and we will arrive in a future in which these aircrafts will replace numerous machines, or actions carried out in daily life by operators on the ground."
